On the edge of the U of T campus and often filled to the gills with college students from fall to spring, the boisterous "Maddy" takes up two Victorian houses, with six levels of food and drink. It typifies an English pub, with lots of brass, exposed brick, and dartboards. A piano bar, pool tables, and plasma-screen TVs are also part of the scene. The five patios (some heated) are lively in summer, when squeezing your way to one of the 12 bars can become blood sport. Next
door is a 23-room boutique hotel called "The Madison Manor."
