Globe Earth Review

Many restaurateurs believe this location is cursed, as predecessors always floundered, but not owner Ed Ho, owner of the equally excellent Globe Bistro, who is passionate about knowing and sharing the origin of foods. Situated in the affluent Rosedale area, Earth is a neighborhood bistro that is surprisingly laid-back, with cool black-and-gray furniture, wooden floors, and a marble bar, and offers great value. The use of whole animals in creative ways is introduced via bacon-infused whiskey on the bar menu. Elk is used extensively, especially in cooler months, for hearty dishes like elk onion soup and elk venison shepherd's pie. A tender piece of pork belly set atop maple chili glaze with chopped kimchi on the side is succulent, not greasy or cloying. Many meat dishes are prepared in the wood-burning oven, like the Tamworth suckling pig roast and whole roasted daily Ontario fish.
