Arthur Carman opened this steak house in 1959, and nothing has changed except the prices. In a room that's outdated but wears its age with pride, with his collection of pewter, copper, porcelain, and paintings, he still offers prime steaks with the nine items that make up the package: garlic toast, baked potato with all the trimmings, cottage cheese, olives, peppers, tzatziki, baklava, and coffee or tea. The kitchen has a way with lobster, Dover sole, and garlic shrimp, too. Meander along the hallway and view the photos of stars from the '50s up to now. They all loved the steak. And come on—how many places still serve a chataubriand meal for two?
