Side Trips from Toronto Restaurants

York Street Kitchen

York Street Kitchen Review

Locals come to this casual spot across from the waterfront for the signature generously portioned and juicy sandwiches and, for dinner, homemade comfort dishes, such as meat loaf with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes or lamb potpie, but especially for the breakfast served daily: favorites are the French toast with homemade apple compote and the Canadiana sandwich with peameal bacon, mustard, tomato, and egg on a toasted kaiser roll. A build-your-own sandwich menu (¢) is available for lunch and at the take-out window in summer. The bright dining room is decorated with vibrant-patterned vinyl tablecloths. During festival season the lines form early.
