James Bay Frontier

James Bay Frontier

This far northeastern region is called the James Bay Frontier. It runs from the tall pine forests north of Temagami to the lowlands of James and Hudson bays, then onward to the southern tip of the Arctic Ocean.

The land is part of the great northern Boreal forest and the massive rock formation known as the Canadian Shield. Mining and forestry are the kings of this land.

The James Bay Frontier is also a favorite for hunters and anglers who know that the remote forests and lakes are teeming with fish and wild game. Many take part in popular fly-in adventures that make this huge area more accessible.
