Train Station Inn

21 Station Rd., Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, B0K 1V0, Canada

Guests at this ingeniously restored inn can sleep in an 1887 train station or one of eight beautifully converted cabooses parked on the tracks outside. The stationmaster's quarters include a three-bedroom suite with a parlor and kitchenette. (Sometimes the suite's rooms are booked as separate units.) Downstairs, a main-floor café, where tasty breakfasts are served, is decorated with authentic railroad memorabilia. There's a dining car for lunch and dinner—the chef uses organic produce from the station garden in some of the dishes. The caboose suites have all the creature comforts, plus touches of railroad life such as signal switches and elevated conductors' cupolas with their revolving chairs.
