Fodor's Expert Review Perkins House Museum

Liverpool

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

Built in 1766, this historic house was home to privateer-turned-leading-citizen Simeon Perkins, who kept a detailed diary about colonial life in Liverpool from 1760 until his death in 1812. Built by ships' carpenters, the intriguing structure gives you the illusion of standing in the upside-down hull of a ship. An interactive exhibit recounts the day-to-day lives of the Perkins family.
