Acadia University Review

Acadia University is now Wolfville's raison d'être. Size-wise, its student body rivals the resident population, and its handsome hillside campus (established in 1838) dominates the town. Two sites on it are of particular interest to travelers.

The Acadia University Art Gallery mounts temporary exhibitions devoted to established and up-and-coming artists. Beveridge Arts Centre, B4P 2R6. 902/585-1373. gallery.acadiau.ca. Free. Tues.-Sun., noon-4.

The Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens consists of 6 acres devoted mainly to indigenous plants from the Acadian Forest Region. Entry through the K. C. Irving Environmental Science Center, B4P 2R6. 902/585-5242. botanicalgardens.acadiau.ca. Free. Daily 8-dusk, weather permitting.
