Henry House

Henry House Review

Haligonian brewers uphold beer-making tradition dating back to 1754 and you can sample the results at this pub, which was once the house of William Alexander Henry, a prominent Canadian. Henry House serves five unpasteurized English-style ales crafted by Halifax's own Granite Brewery plus special blends like Black Velvet (a cider and stout mix). The food here is impressive, too—especially the fishcakes and homemade bread pudding. Best of all, the kitchen stays open late (till midnight Thursday through Saturday, and till 10 pm on other nights). In winter fireplaces keep the ironstone building toasty, and in summer a tiered-patio gives both afternoon sun, and shelter from wind.
