Fodor's Review

Mahogany furnishings, vibrant draperies, and quality linens set the tone for rooms at this business-oriented hotel, while calm prevails in the public areas (garden patios offer a respite from downtown bustle). "Outstanding" service from staff has left Fodorites "feeling pampered," and the in-house restaurant, Gio, wins approval for its earthy contemporary style and globally inspired menu. An underground tunnel connects this mid-hill hotel to the Convention Centre, and

walkways provide indoor access to shops, offices, and entertainment.

Prince George Hotel Review

My stay at the Prince George was extremely disappointing. I can not fathom why this hotel is rated to so highly. Having travelled throughout the world in both inexpensive and luxury hotels, this reminded me of a $49/night Holiday Inn express in Louisianna. The staff was nice, helpful and courteous but rooms were unacceptable. From the lobby to the rooms, there was a funky smell. I was told by the staff that the property was completely renovated,

but our rooms looked like they were stuck in the 1980's with sm all doses of modern elements (flat screen tv). The smell, dirty wall paper, thin sheets and stained towels were a turn off. The bathroom had chipped towels, painfully strong water pressure and a shower curtain that floated and stuck to me (ick!). When I complained, they were very nice but their "upgraded" accomodations were only slightly better. I was throroughly disappointed and would not recommend this to anyone I liked. The only redeeming quality was the front desk/conceierge staff, they were super friendly and nice.

A Personal Favourite

This is my favourite hotel in Halifax. It is a very upscale hotel that seems to be significantly cheaper than other hotels in its league. The service is outstanding and you leave feeling pampered. As well, the location can't be beat and there is a fantastic restaurant onsite. The rooms are spacious and impeccably clean.

A Free Upgrade!

Just got back from staying one night in this hotel - when I asked about the possibility of a room with a view of the gardens (non-smoking) there weren't any available in the price range I'd booked - so the lovely person on the check-in desk just upgraded us to a suite - which was a huge room complete with a kitchenette and separate seating area - a great way to end our holiday to Nova Scotia!! Can't fault the hotel for cleanliness or service - all

the staff we dealt with were exceptionally friendly (like virtually everyone we met in NS!!) The public areas are also welcoming. Overall a great stay - would definitely return.

The place to stay

The Prince George is a really nice place to stay. The rooms are not huge, but boy, are they comfortable. Workout room and pool are terrific, staff extremely capable and friendly.
