Fodor's Review

The tiny community of Big Pond consists of a few houses dotted along the highway, but most people come to see one in particular: the former home of the late singer-songwriter Rita MacNeil, who died in 2013. Rita lived with her children in this former one-room schoolhouse and opened the tearoom in 1986. The building has been expanded to accommodate the multitude of visitors who arrive to sample Rita's Tea Room Blend Tea, which is served along with light meals and tasty baked goods. You can visit a display room of Rita's awards and photographs and browse the gift shop.
