Fodor's Expert Review Castle Moffett
11980 Hwy. 105, Baddeck, Nova Scotia, B0E 1B0, Canada
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
Though not a historic property (it was erected in 1992), this "castle" is enticingly regal and sits on 200 acres of grounds overlooking Bras d'Or Lake. Elegant rooms feature baronial beds, rich fabrics, original art, fireplaces, whirlpool baths, and, in some cases, balconies. Public areas, meanwhile, include the Dungeon Lounge (with wall-to-wall wood panels and an honor bar), plus an old world-style dining room. A tiny fitness room sits beside a massage treatment room and sauna.
PROS
- the property is stunning in fall
- the suite is spacious
CONS
- very pricey
- some multinight minimum-stay requirements
- dining room has only one seating at 7 pm
