On a hill overlooking "Iceberg Alley" 8 km (5 miles) from L'Anse aux Meadows, the Valhalla has quiet rooms with large windows, Scandinavian furniture, and handmade quilts. The full property consists of individual rooms, as well as a private cottage and Newfoundland saltbox-style house. Pulitzer Prize–winner E. Annie Proulx stayed here while writing The Shipping News. The three homes in which she lived form part of the property.
