Ches's

Ches's Review

Since the 1950s, this restaurant has been serving fish-and-chips to a steady stream of customers from noon until after midnight. They come from all walks of life to sample the flaky fish fried in a batter whose recipe the owner keeps under lock and key (literally). Ches's decor is strictly laminated tabletops and plastic chairs, but the fish is hot, fresh, and delicious. From the sea you can also order shrimp, scallops, and salmon with chips, and there are wings, fried chicken, and burgers for those seeking a meal with origins on terra firma. Additional locations do business in St. John's and beyond.
