Hartland

Hartland is best known for having the longest covered bridge in the world, still carrying traffic across the wide St. John River. A sleepy little town for much of the year, it is deluged with busloads of camera-toting tourists in summer, but doggedly avoids the kind of tourist trappings that can be detrimental. You can also visit the Covered Bridge Potato Chip company, just across the highway, for a tour and tasting of the still warm chips straight off the production line.
