This is where such stars as George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon come to stay and play. The lobby bar with its big bay window overlooking rue de la Montagne is a favorite for martinis after work, but for something a little quieter you can sip your predinner drinks by the big fireplace in the lobby lounge. Guest rooms are luxurious, with striped silk upholstered furniture and beds draped with lacy duvets. Canopy beds give many rooms a romantic touch. The bathrooms have whirlpool baths, televisions, and phones. The location -- a five-minute walk from Holt Renfrew and other high-end boutiques -- makes it an ideal base for serious shoppers. Pros: cocktails with a view in the lobby bar; Holt Renfrew and Ogilvy's is a five-minute walk away; good celebrity spotting. Cons: standard rooms are small, considering the price.

So close to the Ritz, yet so distant!

The Ritz Carleton is small, dirty, and dated. The Vogue is spacious, modern, and clean. This is by far, the best hotel in Montreal, and trust me, I've been to the Place d'arms, Sofitel, Hotel St. James, W, and this one takes the cake. The rooms have huge windows, luxurious beds, full marble bathrooms the size of China with tv's in them, and tons of other cool stuff! Come here, because it will suit anyone. The one downside is the fact that I have starwood preffered guest and Fairmont president's club gold status, and none here, so i dont stay here as much as i would like.
