Auberge les Passants du Sans Soucy

$$$, Vieux-Montréal

User Rating: ***** 5.0

Fodor's Review:

Daniel Soucy and Michael Banks, two of the friendliest and most urbane hosts you're likely to run into, will go out of their way to make you feel like a house guest rather than a customer -- if you're lucky enough to snag one of their 10 rooms, that is. Some regulars would rather delay their vacation than stay anywhere else. And no wonder: the hotel lobby doubles as an art gallery and the rooms have brass beds, stone walls, exposed beams, whirlpool baths, and lots of fresh-cut flowers. For breakfast there are selections such as salmon omelets and French toast, all served in front of a fireplace that's full of flowers in summer and crackling logs in winter. Pros: exquisitely personal service and easy access to Vieux-Montréal`s best museums. Cons: rooms need to be booked far in advance and parking is a hassle.

It's Montreal hidden treasure

Posted by maria82871 from New York City, NY on 5/6/07

What's not to love? Really I can say that...Between Miguel and Martin they were just wonderful. I felt in love with the city of Montreal, but what was the deal breaker was that hotel.Talk about a treasure. The old fashion charm building with the modern day art is very impressing plus too hear the church bells ring from my window was a treat. Waking up to the smell of fresh croissants and the best cup of Joe aka coffee and girl could ever have. And even though I don't like eggs I finish the world best omelettes. The staff is just so pleasant and very helpful with where to go and what to see I'm so grateful. Plus if you ever have the chance to meet the cutest host of them all Elliot [the dog] then your trip was all worth wild. It almost makes this city girl willing to give up her life here in NYC and rent a room at this hotel.

Perfect B&B

Posted by Fosie from Cornwall, England on 3/18/07

We stayed here in March for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms are large but cosy with lovely comfortable beds. Daniel, Mikael and Martin were wonderful hosts and we felt like part of a family. The breakfasts were incredible - we travel a lot and they were probably the best we've encountered. The location was terrific and everything about the place was perfect. We would recommend it to anyone and would certainly go back

Not to be missed!

This was my second stay at this Auberge and it was an absolute treat! The quality of service was again outstanding as were the breakfasts (delicious). My room was so comfortable, nicely decorated and cleaned immaculately every day. Between the owner, all the staff and Elliot (the cutest wee dog ever)you couldn't be made to feel more welcome. Great location, good restaurants nearby and easy access by foot or metro to the rest of the city. This auberge is bursting with character and along with such great hospitality you are wrapped up in its warmth as soon as you step through the door. Not to be missed!!

Our room was spacious a quite comfortable. The hosts are welcoming and so helpful with directions, recommendations, making reservations, etc. The breakfasts are divine with fluffy omelettes and wonderful fresh croissants. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return in the future.
