At first blush, the location looks remote. But the Oratoire St-Joseph and Parc Mont-Royal are just a walk away and the busy local neighborhood -- Côte-des-Neiges -- is full of little markets and ethnic restaurants where you can dine cheaply and well. Getting downtown is no problem, either: the Côte-des-Neiges Métro is just across the street. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable, and the rooms all have kitchen facilities. Pros: practical kitchens; lively, multilingual neighborhood; easy access to Métro. Cons: noisy, grubby lobby.
