The vast plaza in front of this venue becomes a real summertime magnet for visitors and locals alike -- especially during the Montréal Jazz Festival, when it's crammed with music-lovers for the free concerts. Montréal's primary performing-arts center was built in the 1960s, when sleek mausoleum-like buildings and vast stark plazas were all the rage. Sadly, the complex no longer offers backstage tours of its five theaters and auditoriums.
