Exchange District Review
The original epicenter of Winnipeg's investment and newspaper businesses contains a wealth of architectural history in its surviving offices, warehouses, banks, and hotels. Today entertainment and the arts dominate the area, with many of the city's vital alternative arts galleries within a small radius. Artspace (100 Arthur St.) includes a gallery and a cinema and is home to many arts organizations. In spring and summer Old Market Square (King St. and Bannatyne Ave.) is the site of free concerts and the nexus of the popular July Winnnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival with performances throughout the neighborhood.
