With a spring that generally happens overnight Nova Scotia takes until mid-June to heat up. Many find July and August ideal months to visit. There's a saying in Nova Scotia: "If you don't like the weather–wait a minute," so come prepared–you may need a raincoat for the morning fog and showers, a sweater at night to keep the ocean breezes at bay, and your bathing suit for the blazing sun in between.
September has warm days and cool nights, not to mention Nova Scotia's Atlantic Film Festival and the Atlantic Fringe Festival. October heralds the arrival of the 10-day Celtic Colours International Festival. Most whale-watching, wildlife cruises, cycling tours, and sea-kayaking outfitters generally operate from mid-June to mid-September. Most golf courses stay open from May until late September, some into October. Ski season (downhill and cross-country) is mid-December to early April.
