Nestled in the Summit Lodge, Elements is consistently ranked by locals as having the best tapas in the area. It's a hip eatery where animated thirtysomethings and jet-setting families with young children occupy the comfy suede banquettes and booths. The draw here is the open-concept kitchen that produces locally inspired small plates that are perfect for sharing. Steamed Salt Spring Island mussels with lemongrass, kaffir lime, and coconut green curry are yummy, as are the spicy chicken drumsticks and the signature bruschetta. Pair them with fine Canadian wines. The restaurant is open for breakfast, too, when several variations of eggs Benedict are the stars.

I was staying only one night in Whistler, and I wanted to make the most of my trip. I asked the desk clerk at my hotel if he had could only eat breakfast once in Whistler, where would he eat? He didn't even hesitate when he said Elements. The restaurant is very small and cozy (ask for clear directions as it's hard to find). Service is great, and the interior decor is beautiful. And I have to say, the brie and honey-ham stuffed French toast is without
a doubt the best breakfast I've had in my entire life.
