Whistler Travel Guide

Cross-Country Skiing

The meandering trail around the Whistler Golf Course from the village is an ideal beginners' route. The 28 km (17 miles) of track-set trails that wind around scenic Lost Lake, Chateau Whistler Golf Course, the Nicklaus North Golf Course, and Green Lake include routes suitable for all levels; 4 km (2½ miles) of trails around Lost Lake are lighted for night skiing from 4 to 10 each evening. Trail maps and rental equipment are available in sports shops throughout the village.

Whistler X-Country Ski & Hike. Operating out of the Whistler Nordic Center at Whistler Olympic Park—the same place you can hitch a ride on a bobsleigh—Whistler Cross Country Ski & Hike and Coast Mountain Guides team up to give lessons or guided cross-country ski tours that are ideal for beginners and advanced skiers. The countryside is considered one of the largest Nordic recreational areas in North America. They have two Nordice-gear retail outlets: here and in Squamish. You can also connect with these folks via the Whistler Activity Centre. Whistler Nordic Center at Olympic Park, 5 Callaghan Valley Rd., Whistler, BC, V0N 1B2. 604/964–2454 or 604/567–2232.
