Matisse Review

The gracious owner greets each guest personally at this tiny gem of a traditional French restaurant where white linens, fresh flowers, and candlelight on the dozen or so tables set the stage for meals of such seasonally changing, well-executed bistro classics as crepes, rack of lamb, or a sauté of lobster, prawns, and scallops. The primarily French wine list has plenty of affordable options, and the bread pudding, crème brûlée, and house-made sorbets are much-loved finales. Piaf chansons on the speakers and Matisse originals on the wall add to the pleasing character.

    They replicate dining in Paris - even the bad parts!

    Was it like dining in a bistro in Paris? Yes. The imaginative menu did an excellent job of creating a Parisian menu in the Pacific Northwest. Yes, you do get greeted by the owner, who helps take care of you and make you feel special. But it took forever and a day to go through the dinner. I understand how Europeans eat at a slower pace but this was a pace a Galapagos tortoise could easily outstrip! For two of us without a drop of romance in mind had a dinner that took four hours to work through. I'm just glad we didn't have my 8 year old daughter. Good dinner though she is, she'd never have made it!
