Fodor's Review:

Art, food, and gardens work together beautifully at one of Canada's best-loved country inns. Guest rooms, public spaces, and even the outdoors are beautifully decorated with pieces from the owners' vast art collection. The seaside organic garden produces hundreds of herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers destined for the kitchen, and the relaxed, ocean-view dining room is the stage for some of the country's most innovative meals. Nightly four-course menus rely almost entirely on local provisions, and the 15,000-bottle wine cellar is among the country's best. Rooms in the 1929 oceanfront inn, each with a fireplace and most with Japanese soaking tubs on private ocean-view decks, are art-filled, individually themed, and exquisitely comfortable in an informal country-house way. All the romantic requisites, from in-room spa services to breakfast in bed, are offered. TVs and DVDs are available on request. Nonguests can enjoy some of this splendor, too: garden tours, at 10:30 each morning, are open to everyone, as are C$15 picnic lunches (call before 10 AM to order), which you can enjoy on the oceanfront deck or on a quiet beach nearby.

I reserved one night here at the last minute. I was assured the inn was a non smoking property.
When I arrived I noticed the prevailing smell of smoke. Woodsmoke. It was everywhere, my guest room, outdoors, in the restaurant, and in the public rooms.
After a few hours of this assault, I decided my fragile lungs could not stand any more. I checked out and was told by the staff at the front desk that the owner would give no refunds. Period.
I am lucky I only reserved one night. I also learned to add another question to my list when choosing a hotel.
I reminded myself that I should always read the fine print. And then I remembered that every time I have had had a problem with accomadations they have always had far too much fine print on their website and literature.
A word to the wise. If you need an attorney to help you make a reservation go elsewhere.
