The food's as no-nonsense as the name at this funky little Downtown barbecue corner that dispenses with such niceties as table service and plates. No matter—the overflowing pulled pork, brisket, or smoked chicken sandwiches served on butcher paper are hearty and delicious. Add a side of beans or cole slaw, or, for a heart-stopping mashup of southern 'cue and Canadian homestyle cuisine, there's also pulled pork poutine. Beer, cider, and iced tea help wash it all down. If you're headed to the West Shore, stop at the second location (2955 Phipps Road in the Westshore Village Shopping Centre) or watch for the mobile Pigmobile at events around town.
