Vancouver Sights

The city's downtown core includes the main business district between Robson Street and the Burrard Inlet harbor front; the West End that edges up against English Bay; Stanley Park; trendy Yaletown; and Gastown and Chinatown, which are the oldest parts of the city. Main Street, which runs north-south, is roughly the dividing line between the east and west sides. The entire downtown district sits on a peninsula bordered by English Bay and the Pacific Ocean to the west; by False Creek to the south; and by Burrard Inlet, the city's working port, to the north, where the North Shore Mountains loom.

One note about printed Vancouver street addresses: suite numbers often appear before the street number, followed by a hyphen.

Elsewhere in the city you'll find other places of interest: the North Shore is across Burrard Inlet (Whistler is a two-hour drive from here); Granville Island is south of downtown across False Creek; the West Side comprises several neighborhoods across from English Bay in the West End. Richmond, where the airport is, is to the south; the suburbs of Burnaby and the Fraser Valley are to the east.
