The Burrard

The Burrard Review

Freebies abound at the fun and funky Burrard: water in recyclable bottles, biodegradable bath products, iPod docks, and movie channels on the huge flat-screen TVs for starters. The hotel was originally built in the '50s, and the recent renovations harken back to that period with chunky furnishings that call to mind the glitz and glamour of Sunset Bouldevard. They didn't skimp on comfort, with pillow-top beds and sleek chairs designed for lounging. The whole thing wraps around a courtyard shaded by palm trees—another nod to Hollywood. Pro : doesn't take it self too seriously; laid-back atmosphere; complimentary bicycles and umbrellas. Con : overreaches a bit in achieving its "cool" vibe.
