The Naam

The Naam Review

Vancouverites have a love-hate relationship with the city's oldest natural-foods eatery. Some go gaga for the famous baked fries with miso gravy and pack the wooden tables for the Thai noodle dishes, burritos, enchiladas, wicked chocolate desserts, and fresh-squeezed juices, while others grumble that this aging hippie is past its prime. Still, live blues, folk, and jazz most evenings keep things homey, and if you need to satisfy a late-night craving for a veggie burger, rest easy—the Naam is open 24 hours. Reservations are accepted only for groups of six or more and only between Monday and Thursday.

This place is an adventure-in mediocrity.

Dirt encrusted windows foreshadow an interior that is so depressing it has to be seen to be believed-grubby and gritty.

The 'service' is appalling-these are people who give zombies a bad name-and the food when it arrives is dreadful, ancient wilted greens/generic bottled dressings/overcooked mushy mains that are indistinguishable from each other.

A visit to the washroom is Not Advised for anyone who isn't in an emergency situation.

If you collect horror stories then this place is for you-if not stay away-Far, Far Away.
