Le Gavroche Review
Classic French cuisine receives contemporary accents at this romantic restaurant, in an early-20th-century house tucked amid the downtown towers. Seafood entrées range from wild salmon paired with cabbage to smoked halibut served with braised leeks; meat options include rich beef tenderloin and mustard-crusted rack of lamb. Vegetarian choices are always available. One of the few places with table-side service of steak tartare and Caesar salad, Le Gavroche also has a 5,000-label wine cellar.
