Hapa Izakaya

Hapa Izakaya Review

Serving small plates designed for sharing, this sleek Japanese tapas bar is known for its mackerel, cooked table-side with a blowtorch. Also worth trying are the ebi mayo (tempura shrimp with spicy mayonnaise) and the ishi-yaki (a Korean-style stone bowl filled with rice, pork, and vegetables). Sake or Japanese beer are the drinks of choice. If you're looking for Japanese fare elsewhere around town, Hapa has branches at 1193 Hamilton Street in Yaletown and at 1516 Yew Street in Kitsilano, one block from Kits Beach.
