Fodor's Review:
On a tree-lined residential street a block from Stanley Park, this 1926 pension-style hotel vies with the Sylvia Hotel as one of Vancouver's best values. Popular with cyclists thanks to its bike storage and low-traffic location, the Buchan also provides free coffee and tea, a lounge with a fireplace, and ski storage, but no elevator. Rooms are simple but comfortable, with checked or floral fabrics and old-fashioned radiators. Rooms without baths have hand basins. Pros: Residential neighborhood, quiet, close proximity to beach and Stanley Park, airport shuttle a five-minute walk away. Cons: Parking either has time limits or is expensive, limited guest-room amenities.
