Art and jazz come together in this stylish hotel on Vancouver's most vibrant shopping street. Gallery-floor guest rooms and suites display original or limited-edition works by Canadian artists alongside pieces from France, England, the U.S., and Japan. Rooms on the Museum floor are decorated with work from contemporary First Nations artists. Custom-made furniture in Gallery and Museum rooms complements the art. At time of writing, a Photography floor was in the works. You can catch live jazz nightly at O'Doul's Restaurant & Bar downstairs. Pros: The art concept offers an eclectic insight into regional culture, there's quality (local) jazz on your doorstep. Cons: It's a three-block walk from the designer-label area of Robson Street, which can feel like forever if you're laden down with purchases; staff are on the young (inexperienced) side.

Although the room itself was nice and well-appointed, the overall experience lacked that of many boutique concepts. A decent hotel, but nothing special.
