Summer Night Market. Much larger than its downtown counterpart, this market features vendors selling everything from socks to mops and food stalls offering noodle bowls, skewered meats, and bubble tea. Concerts, magic shows, and kung fu demonstrations fill out the rotating lineup of special events. Between mid-May and early October, the market runs from 7 pm to about midnight on Friday and Saturday and from 7 pm to 11 pm on Sunday. To get here by public transit, take the Canada Line to Bridgeport Station and change to Bus 407 or 430. 12631 Vulcan Way, off Bridgeport Rd., Richmond, BC, V6V 1J7. 604/278–8000. www.summernightmarket.com.

Vancouver Chinatown Night Market. Chinatown is at its liveliest in the evening when vendors set up stalls selling food, clothing, and a wide variety of "do I really need this?" bits and bobs. From mid-May to early September, the market is open 6 to 11 pm Friday through Sunday. It's a fun place to wander. Keefer St., between Columbia and Main Sts., Chinatown, Vancouver, BC, V6A 1X4. 604/682–8998. www.vcma.shawbiz.ca.
