Tofino, Ucluelet, and the Pacific Rim Sights

Wild Pacific Trail

Fodor's Review

Ucluelet is the starting point for the Wild Pacific Trail, a hiking path that winds along the coast and through the rain forest; it's a work in progress that will eventually link Ucluelet to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. A 2.7-km (1.7-mile) loop starts at He-Tin-Kis Park off Peninsula Road and can also be reached from the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse at the end of Coast Guard Road. Take note of the sea-facing trees, bent at right angles in a face-off against the wild

and stormy winds. Another 4-km (2½-mile) stretch starts at Big Beach at the end of Matterson Road and continues to the bike path just outside Ucluelet.
