Fodor's Expert Review Prince of Wales Hotel

Prince of Wales Hotel, Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta, T0K2M0, Canada Fodor's Choice

A high steeple crowns this iconic, 1920s hotel, which is fantastically ornamented with eaves, balconies, and turrets; is perched between two lakes with a high-mountain backdrop; and has a lobby where two-story windows capture the views. Even if you don't choose to stay in the hotel, you should stop by to take a picture on the bluff behind it, visit the well-stocked gift shop, or enjoy afternoon tea, which is served in the lobby daily. Expect creaks and rattles at night—the old hotel is exposed to rough winds. Rooms are small and are priced high for their size, but you'll want to check this place off your bucket list. Guests can also enjoy evening storytelling in the lobby or go on a guided tour of the property.
