Calgary Tower Review

The views from this 626-foot (191-meter), scepter-shaped edifice take in the city's layout, the surrounding plains, and the face of the Rockies rising 80 km (50 mi) to the west. A "torch" that crowns the tower is lighted for special events and occasions. The tower top also holds the revolving Panorama Room restaurant, which serves all three meals; Tops Grill; and a gift shop.

Great place to start your trip

I always like to take my out of town guests here. It is the tallest observation tower in Western Canada and it is nice for people to see how spread out the city is. On a clear day you can really see the mountains too. A couple years ago they added a glass floor off the observation deck and I think it is even better and less expensive than the CN Tower in Toronto. The food in the restaurant is reasonably priced compared to other restaurants close by (Breakfast $9-$14, Lunch $13-$22, Dinner $18-55 CDN prices as of Summer 2007). When you have reservations in the rotating dining room the admission is 50% off.
