The Sleeping Buffalo
The Sleeping Buffalo Review
Located in the main building of the Buffalo Mountain Lodge, this rustic dining room serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Historic photos and native artifacts adorn the pale-green walls, and there are plenty of windows to let in natural light. Fresh berries, wild fruits, local meats, and regional vegetables are skillfully and artistically combined with herbs grown in the lodge's large garden to create fine Rocky Mountain cuisine. The lodge has its own game farm just outside Calgary, and smoked, cured, or roasted wild game is a specialty. Try the pulled-elk sandwich for lunch or the wild northern caribou medallions with potato and yam gratin, saskatoon berry relish, and a flamed whiskey reduction for dinner. The wine list is extensive.
