This was given national park protection in 1885, becoming the birthplace of the Canadian Rockies park system. Two interpretive trails explain the area's geology and plant life, while hands-on interpretive displays offer information on the wildlife and history of the national park. You can take a guided tour of the cave daily mid-May through September and weekends throughout the rest of the year. A boardwalk leads to a marsh where the warm springwater supports tropical fish illegally dumped into the waters many years ago.
