Fernie Alpine Resort (Ski Area Rd. 250/423-4655. www.skifernie.com) has 107 runs, 10 lifts, five bowls, tree skiing, and on-mountain facilities for skiers. In summer a chairlift keeps busy ferrying mountain bikers and their bikes up the slopes. Expansion has increased the vertical drop to 2,816 feet with the addition of two lifts. The resort also has nightclubs, several restaurants and pubs, a grocery, and a liquor store, plus ski-in, ski-out accommodations with hot tubs.
