Jasper in One Day

Jasper in One Day

Make a stop at the Jasper Information Centre to get maps of the park and information about any special activities before driving up to Mt. Edith Cavell. The 1 km (½-mi) trail from the parking lot leads to the base of an imposing cliff where you can see the stunning Angel Glacier. If you are feeling energetic, take the steep 3-km (2-mi) trail that climbs up the valley to Cavell Meadows, which are carpeted with wildflowers from mid-July to mid-August. Return to the Jasper Townsite for lunch. In the afternoon, take the 45-minute drive southeast of the town site to beautiful Maligne Lake, the second-largest glacier-fed lake in the world. Explore the lake and make a stop at Spirit Island on a 1½-hour guided boat tour with Maligne Lake Scenic Cruises. Return to the town site for supper and end your day by participating in a free ranger-led evening interpretive program at Whistlers Outdoor Theatre, south of the Jasper Townsite at Whistlers Campground.
