Fodor's Review:

The Alexis occupies two historic buildings near the waterfront. It's a fine place to stay, with a focus on art (including a rotating collection of paintings in the corridor between wings). Subdued colors, imported Italian and French fabrics, and antiques can be found in the standard rooms and public spaces. It is, however, starting to look a little worn around the edges in some places, and it's really the specialty suites that set this property apart. The John Lennon suite is gorgeous, with framed lithographs and song lyrics, shoji screens separating the bedroom from the living room, and a wood-burning fireplace. Room 230 is also special: it's a full-blown two-bedroom apartment with wood floors and exposed-brick walls. Spa suites, which include in-room spa services from the Aveda spa downstairs, are a good choice if you can't splurge on a specialty suite; their bathrooms have two-person tubs and retro red-and-tan flowered wallpaper (the ones on the sixth floor also have skylights). A few rooms have restricted water views; book early to secure one of those. Downstairs, the Library bistro is one of the city's favorite lunchtime hideaways and bars.

Downtown Hotel with Charm & Priced at $200

Posted by St0rmshadow from Issaquah, WA on 12/18/06

It is an older hotel. The executive suite is great. Large living area. Blocks from everything. Plenty of bars, dining, shopping, and sight seeing. Best of all, the Alexis allows pets. Service is stellar as well. If you are used to the Four Seasons for room "features" or furniture then move along. Otherwise this is a wonderful hotel.
