Pan Pacific Seattle

$$$$, Belltown

Fodor's Review:

This is a stunning hotel, with views that often times eclipse the coveted Elliott Bay waterfront ones. The lobby features a dramatic "floating" staircase (it leads up to meeting spaces and another small lounge), a fireplace, and plush brown suede and leather couches. The Pan Pacific went with a different color palette than most of its competitors -- blond and light woods, tan marble, cinnamon accents -- and the result is that every corner of the hotel feels full of light even during the gray Seattle winter. All rooms are spacious; large tubs shielded by shoji doors, Hypnos beds, and ergonomic Herman Miller chairs at the desks are standard. All corner Executive King rooms have terrific views of the Space Needle and the mountains to the west and Lake Union to the north. Of the junior suites, Rooms 10 and 11 have the best views of Lake Union -- something to note if you're in town for the Fourth of July fireworks. The Pan Pacific is part of a luxury condo development that includes a large fitness center (open to hotel guests), a courtyard of high-end specialty shops, and an enormous Whole Foods, which makes up for the fact that with the exception of the excellent Marazul, the immediate area has few dining options.
