$-$$, Mexican, Fremont
Fodor's Review:
Loose, loud, and funky, this Fremont storefront restaurant gives its own irreverent Northwest interpretation of Mexican cuisine. Rock-shrimp quesadillas, chipotle-pepper and garlic sea bass, and duck with a spicy green sauce are typical of the kitchen's gentle spin. Even a green salad becomes transformed with toasted pumpkin seeds on crispy romaine with a cool garlic, lime juice, and cilantro dressing. Weekend brunches are also excellent -- everything from standard scrambled eggs and bacon to Mexican favorites like chilaquiles are done well.
