Golden Gardens Park

Parks, Ballard

Fodor's Review:

There are 3 mi of forest trails in this 87-acre park, but most people come here to sunbathe, brave the cold waters of Puget Sound for a swim, or just sit on the beach. The stretch of sand closest to the parking lot has a snack bar, picnic tables, and restrooms -- and the greatest concentration of people. As you walk farther north, the crowds thin out considerably and you'll have no problem finding a peaceful spot or empty bench. And with the Shilshole Bay Marina so close by, you can bet there will be a lot of white sails in the water to make the view of the sound and the Olympic Mountains in the distance that much more enjoyable. Though there is a large parking lot, finding parking here can be challenging, especially on sunny weekends. Be prepared to circle.
