$-$$, Brazilian, University District
Fodor's Review:
Folks come from far afield to this festive place for a taste of Brazil. The popular cod, prawn, and halibut dishes simmered in coconut-based sauces are complex and satisfying; entrées arrive with moist, chewy, long-grain rice and delectable black beans. For a larger meal, try the charbroiled Argentine steak, bife grelhado. Finish with cold passion-fruit mousse or tangy guava paste served with farmer's cheese, and strong dark coffee. The outstanding food, attention to detail, and earnest staff make dining here a pleasure. The airy patio is perfect for icy Brazilian cocktails in summer. Note that this is at the very top of The Ave; it's a long walk from the campus. It's also very pricey for simple Brazilian food, so make sure that's really what you're craving before trekking out here.
