The Herbfarm

$$$$, Pacific Northwest, Woodinville

User Rating: ** 1.6

Fodor's Review:

You may want to fast before dining at the Herbfarm. You'll get no fewer than nine courses here -- it's the closest thing the Northwest has to Spain's famous El Bulli restaurant. "Dinner" takes at least four hours and includes five fine Northwest wines, so you may also want to arrange for transportation to and from the restaurant. Before you tuck in, you'll be treated to a tour of the garden, so you'll be able to see exactly where most of your meal's ingredients are coming from. The dining room itself is in a century-old farmhouse and is reminiscent of a country estate -- whether said estate is in France, England, or the Pacific Northwest is your call, but it's probably the only place in the Seattle area where you can imagine being part of a dinner party at the summer home of a magnate or baron. The set menus change weekly; if you have dietary restrictions, it's essential to call ahead to make sure that you won't be confronted with a menu full of things you can't eat. With all products coming from the farm, or other local growers and suppliers, you can always expect fresh seafood and shellfish, artisanal cheeses, and luscious seasonal fruits.

The courses were served too far apart and when the food finally arrived, it wasn't anything worth the price paid. The wine served didn't stand a chance of making up for the time spent and money lost. Mistral is far superior.
