13 Coins is a wonderful oddity. One of the few restaurants open 24 hours a day, the place nearly defies description. To say it seems stuck in time, circa 1967, would be true, but it's really stuck in another universe altogether. Maybe it's those ridiculously out-of-proportion, high-back booths, but the place reminds us of Alice's mad tea party presided over by waiters who stumbled into a wormhole somewhere in Brooklyn, New York. Service is downright entertaining -- half the fun of coming here, especially late at night, is listening to the waiters and cooks banter as dishes are whisked around. The food is upscale diner fare, consistently good but a bit overpriced. Though the menu does include some standbys like a good cheesesteak and huge frittatas -- don't expect hamburgers, fries, and mozzarella sticks here. Menu benchmarks include liver and onions, jumbo shrimp on ice, and platters of steak and pasta big enough to stuff a logger. Seafood dishes aren't quite up to Seattle's high standards, but the steamed clams and the baked king salmon fillet are decent.

Good Grief

This is by far one of the worst restaurants I've eaten at since college 40 years ago. The scene at Seatac is from the 50's, more suited for all nighters in Las Vegas. Other than an Italian restaurant in Little Italy in Manhattan, this is the only restaurant where I could only eat two (2!) bites of my entree and stopped eating. And my wife would tell you that is almost impossible for me. Any place open 24 hours a day tells you something and that is probably not good. There are plenty of good restaurants in Seattle-Canlis, Campagne, Ray's Boathouse, Wild Ginger-but this is not one of them.

The perfect place to disappear to.

I dropped in for dinner on a whim with my 7 yr old daughter, after a visit to the Cinerama, and the waiter treated her like a Queen!
It's the best place in town and I hope it stays just the way it is forever.

No Complaints, Ever!

I lived in Seattle a few years ago and dined at the Sea-Tac 13 Coins at least weekly and never once received poor service or subpar food. The waiters are true pros and the food is top-notch. I had the opportunity to visit once again this past summer and was not disappointed - the place has not changed a bit. I highly recommend the bucket of clams and the spaghettini carbonara.

One of Seattle's Finest

Nasty nonsmokers who drive Hummers so that America expends all its dignity & resources in the Middle East can stay away. Fine by those of us in the know who love the place. Linguine with Dungeness Crab Sauce, Filet Mignon, Pan Fried Oysters, Creme Brulee, Zabaglione are all excellent. Chicken Parmigiana is their signature dish. Some dishes aren't so great but if you know what to order, you'll be very happy. I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world, and 13 Coins remains a sentimental favorite for many reasons. I have even eaten all 3 meals in one day there just hanging out. Food is served piping hot, some of the waiters have been there for decades and know their business. It is not shady or lowlife at all. Just a place for people who enjoy the finer things in life, like martinis, steaks & yes, cigarettes.
