Downtown, the most general descriptor possible for a fairly large swath of the city core, is easy to pick out -- it's the only part of the city with skyscrapers. It's clearly bounded on the west by Elliott Bay and the waterfront and on the east by I-5, and stretches north to south from Virginia Street to Yesler Way. Seattle's business district and governmental buildings are here, and the neighborhood is also the location of most of the city's most popular tourist spots, including Pike Place Market. Downtown's famous piers include the must-see Seattle Aquarium and are the departure points for ferries to the nearby islands of Puget Sound.
