$$$-$$$$, Beaufort
Fodor's Review:
The owners have filled this 1790 home with 18th- and 19th-century heirlooms; it retains the original federal fireplaces and crown and rope molding. Guest rooms and oversize suites are elegant but a bit busy, comfortable with hand-knotted rugs on the pine floors and commanding beds piled high with quilts. Its looks out on the waters of the bay. Beautifully lighted at night, this antebellum house, with white pillars and dual verandas, typifies the Old South.
